Tree Climber

If you read my latest journal, you'd know I've recently been struggling a little with art. Nothing I touch seems to work out. It's like my brain forgot how to draw and I'm slowly re-learning everything. A lot is due to stress at my job and home. So whenever I sit down to draw it's like my brain is all "WHAT IS THIS YOU'RE ASKING ME TO DO?! HOW DO I HOLD THIS PEN THING? MAKE A CIRCLE?! WHAAAA?" And the end result is me shutting my computer off and watching an episode of Merlin instead.

But yesterday afternoon my son went down for his nap and instead of laying down for a nap myself (which I soooooo wanted to do) I sat down and did this. Lucky for me, my son took an extra long nap, so I had a couple of hours to myself.

It's far from perfect, but it's a start. There were moments when I felt like myself again. And it felt good. So I'll just keep going and see what happens. My brain is slowing pulling itself out of the sludge it's been stuck in and remembering that this is what I love to do.

I'll get there.
